For the second straight year, UW WBB Head Coach Tina Langley has landed the ESPN #14 ranked recruiting class (for 2023)– with a huge assist from Recruiting Coordinator/Assistant Coach Katie Faulkner, as well as, Assistant Coach Latara King.
Langley landed the #14 class in 2022, as well.
SAYVIA SELLERS
Sayvia Sellers is rated the #28 player in the Class of 2023 by ESPN’s 2023 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Sayvia Sellers is an elite point guard recruit that has the potential for great achievements at the University of Washington.
As we discussed in a previous article “UW WBB Huskies Score Big, 2023 Elite PG Sayvia Sellers Commits”,
Sellers demonstrates the ability to lead her team with sharp decision-making under pressure that makes her an on-court extension of her coach(es).
Sellers exudes confidence and calm, while controlling the ball and her team during an offensive possession.
A three-level scorer with athletic ability to get to the rim and strength to finish through contact, Sellers is a point guard with potential to change the trajectory of the program.
AARI LONG
Ari Long is rated the #46 player in the Class of 2023 by ESPN’s 2023 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
Long is a 6’0″ three-point sharpshooter from Valley View H.S. in Moreno Valley, CA but she is much more than that.
Ari Long shows the ability to hit the three off-the-dribble, whether one-on-one or using the screen, as well as the ability to catch-and shoot from three-point range.
Long also brings point guard shiftiness when attacking a defender with her dribble, which she can use to get her own shot in the mid-range area or to attack the basket.
Ari Long also demonstrates point guard playmaking ability off-the-dribble to create for her teammates.
CHLOE BRIGGS
Chloe Briggs is a smooth, left-handed, 5’11 guard out of Ontario Christian(Ontario, CA), who received offers from Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, Baylor and Arkansas.
Chloe Briggs is rated the #93 player in the Class of 2023 by ESPN’s 2023 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings.
As we discussed in a previous article “UW WBB Lands Verbal Commit From High Impact 2023 Guard Chloe Briggs”,
What sets Briggs apart is her creative one-on-one ability, as well as her smooth shooting stroke off-the-dribble to the three-point arc and beyond.
Chloe Briggs is just hard to guard with the ball in her hands, as she is quick with with a shifty change-of-pace, change-of-direction dribble to setup a drive into the lane.
Briggs displays exceptional basketball IQ at all times; and coupled with her on-ball creativity and shot-making ability, it makes her a very tough matchup.
As a defender, Briggs demonstrates good anticipation with quick hands and feet.
OLIVIA ANDERSON
Flying under the radar as a 6’6″ multi-talented big should be impossible. Yet somehow Olivia Anderson, from Ellensburg HS (Ellensburg, WA), did that just and was inexplicably left off ESPN’s final Top 100 rankings for 2023.
We strongly believe Olivia Anderson is a Top 100 4-star player with 5-star talent and UW will reap huge benefits from her signing.
Anderson is still growing physically and skill-wise, yet is already a versatile and athletic big — with seemingly unlimited potential.
Olivia Anderson could prove to be the dominant player of this class if she continues to develop and display the versatility to play inside offensively and defensively; as well as, consistently bring opposing bigs outside by hitting the mid-range and occasional three-pointer.
Even more promising, Anderson’s development trajectory will dramatically increase with the opportunity to compete against current Husky 6’4″ Dalayah Daniels in practice sessions and learn from her directly.
Brighter Future Ahead?
