As expectations continue to rise for Washington women’s basketball, senior guard Sayvia Sellers has once again been recognized among the conference’s elite. The University of Washington standout was named to the 2026-27 Preseason All-Big Ten Team. Sellers was one of just 10 players selected by the league’s coaches and media, reinforcing her status as one of the nation’s premier guards entering her final collegiate season.

The preseason honor comes on the heels of a remarkable junior campaign in which Sellers established herself as one of the most impactful players in the Big Ten. She received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition from conference coaches after leading the Huskies in both scoring and playmaking. Starting all 33 games, Sellers averaged a career-best 18.0 points and 3.9 assists per contest while serving as the focal point of Washington’s offense.

What made Sellers’ season particularly impressive was not only the increase in production, but also the efficiency with which she delivered it. Tasked with a larger offensive role, she consistently found ways to create opportunities for herself and her teammates while maintaining strong scoring numbers against some of the nation’s toughest competition. Her ability to balance scoring, ball distribution, and leadership helped anchor the Huskies throughout the season.

Sellers also achieved a milestone that underscored her national impact. During the 2025-26 season, she became the first player in Washington program history to be named the USBWA National Player of the Week twice in the same year. The achievement highlighted her ability to dominate on a national stage and provided further evidence of the growth she has shown throughout her collegiate career.

Now entering her senior season, Sellers carries both experience and momentum into what could be a defining year for the Huskies. With a proven track record of production and leadership, she is expected to remain one of the conference’s top players and a key figure in Washington’s pursuit of a Big Ten championship.

The preseason recognition reflects not only what Sellers has already accomplished, but also the expectations surrounding her final season in Seattle. If her recent trajectory is any indication, Sellers is poised for a final season’s performance that culminates in higher achievements on a personal and team level.
