Preview: #20 UW WBB Huskies vs. Green Bay – Sat. December 13th @ 12noon

The #20-ranked Washington Huskies (8-1) host the Green Bay Phoenix (8-3) at Hec Ed on Saturday, December 13th at 12 p.m. on the B1G Plus Network.

After a close 50-59 Sunday road loss to the USC Trojans in Los Angeles, the Dawgs aim to resume their unbeaten home streak for the 2025-26 season versus the Phoenix.

Washington’s offense currently averages 71.6 points per game; while the Huskies defense hold opponents to 49.4 points per game.

The Huskies offense is most efficient scoring at the rim (within 4.5 feet) making 61.6% of their shots.

However, Washington is only shooting 35.8% from farther away in the lane.

Washington is shooting a competent 31% from three-point range — well below the Huskies usual standard for a season average (37% last season).

Junior point guardSayvia Sellers contributes a team-leading 17.7 points per game; a team-leading 4.0 assists per game; as well as a team-leading 1.9 steals per game.

Sayvia is shooting a red-hot 37.7% (20 for 53) from three-point range; while making 55.8% (43 for 77) of her two-point attempts; and converting 75% (30 for 40) at the rim within 4.5 feet, as well as 40.7% farther away in the lane.

Avery Howell is the Huskies second-leading scorer with 11.4 points per game; a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per game; and is fourth in steals with 1.1 per game.

Howell is making 38.5% (20 for 52) from three-point range; and 51.7% of her two-point attempts (15 for 29).

Brynn McGaughy contributes a third-leading 9.2 points per game; a second-leading 4.8 rebounds per game; as well as a team-leading 1.8 blocks per game.

McGaughy shoots 47.1% on two-point attempts; and is most efficient scoring at the rim (within 4.5 feet) making 62.1% of her shots.

Green Bay Phoenix Preview

The Green Bay Phoenix offense currently averages 66.2 points per game; while the Phoenix defense allows opponents to score 56.3 points per game.

The Phoenix make 48.7% from the field overall (181 for 372); including 48.7% of their 2-point attempts; and a respectable 33.3% of their three-point attempts.

The Phoenix feature only two players averaging double figures.

Meghan Schultz, a 6’4″ redshirt sophomore forward, averages a team-leading 14.5 points per game; as well as a team-leading 5.6 rebounds per game.

Schultz is most effective scoring in the lane, converting 64.8% (46 for 71) within 4.5 feet of the rim; but only 36% from farther out in the lane.

Finally, Schultz has zero three-point attempts.

Jenna Guyer, a 6’2″ redshirt senior center, is averaging a second-leading 10.8 points per game (in limited games).

Guyer is most effective scoring in the lane, converting 60% (9 for 15) within 4.5 feet of the rim; but only 33% (4 for 12)from farther out in the lane.

CBB Analytics

Maddy Skorupski, a 5‘8″ senior guard, is averaging a third-leading 9.2 points per game; as well as a second-leading 4.9 rebounds per game; and a second-leading 3.8 assists.

Skorupski is most effective scoring at the rim, shooting 65.2% (within 4.5 feet); but is also shooting a team-leading 50% (7 for 14) from three-point range (on limited attempts).

CBB Analytics

To secure the victory, the UW Huskies should dominate the Green Bay Phoenix by:

(1) limiting the offensive opportunities of Green Bay’s front court leading scorers, Meghan Schultz and Jenna Guyer, by disrupting their post-up attempts, as well as limiting their offensive rebounding and second chance opportunities;

(2) pushing tempo offensively to take advantage of the Huskies superior roster depth to wear down the Phoenix’s thin roster;

(3) playing tough and physical on-ball and off-ball pressure defense to disrupt and force 15 or more turnovers by Green Bay (who average 13.9 turnovers per game); and

(4) dominating the Phoenix backcourt early with explosive scoring by UW guards, i.e., Sayvia Sellers and Avery Howell (and hopefully, Elle Ladine).

The elite defense, transition offense and veteran experience of the Dawgs should be enough to overcome Green Bay’s upset efforts and secure a victory of 20 points or more.

Huskies Win Probability: 85%
