In a game that was not as close as the 24-point defeat, the Washington Huskies (13-7 overall, 4-4 B1G) struggled mightily and were defeated handily, 61-85, by Iowa (13-7 overall, 3-6 B1G).
The Washington Huskies shot a very poor 38.3% overall (23 for 60); as well as 40% on two-point attempts (16 for 40); and 35% (7 for 20) from three-point range.

Washington defenders were no match for a Iowa Hawkeyes offense that was hitting on all cylinders: shooting 71.7% (33 for 46) overall; 69.2% (9 for 13) from three-point range; and 72.7% on two-point attempts.

The Hawkeyes scored 44 points-in-the-paint versus 24 by the Huskies; and Iowa’s bench scored 22 points versus six points by Washington’s bench.
UW WBB Huskies Player of the Game: Elle Ladine
Elle Ladine was the one Husky player that had a good performance against the Hawkeyes.
In 38 minutes, Ladine scored 24 points on 50% shooting from the field overall (9 for 18); and 50% shooting (3 for 6) from three-point range.

In addition, Ladine added three assists, two rebounds, and two steals.

1st Quarter
In the first period, Washington started the game on a sour note by shooting 37.5% ( 6 for 16) shooting overall; as well as 20% from three-point range (1 for 5).
The Huskies were led by Elle Ladine with seven points; Dalayah Daniels added three points; and Chloe Briggs and Tayra Eke added two points each.
Meanwhile, the Iowa Hawkeyes exploded offensively with a 26-point first quarter effort — shooting 70.6% overall (12 for 17) and 100% (2 for 2) from three-point range.
The Huskies trailed by 12 points to end the first period, 14-26.
2nd Quarter
In the second period, Washington’s offense continued to struggle by shooting 26.7% (4 for 15) from the field overall; although they managed to make 33% (2 for 6) from three-point range.
The Hawkeyes outscored the Huskies, 24-12, as Iowa’s offense put the game away early by shooting 80% (8 for 10) shooting from the field overall; and a scorching hot 100% (6 for 6) shooting from three-point range.
The Huskies were led by Elle Ladine with four points; Dalayah Daniels and Hannah Stines added three points each; and Breann McDonald added two points.
Heading into halftime, the Huskies trailed by 24 points, 26-50; and a Husky loss seemed to be a foregone conclusion.
3rd Quarter
In the third quarter, the Huskies continued to struggle, as any comeback hopes for the Dawgs fizzled out.
The Huskies mustered up a 13-point scoring effort on 38.5% (5 for 13) shooting overall and 40% from three-point range (2 for 5).
Meanwhile, Iowa scored 21 points in the third quarter on 71.4% shooting overall (1 for 14) –despite shooting 25% from three-point range (1-4).
Washington was led in scoring by Elle Ladine’s six points; Dalayah Daniels added five points; and Hannah Stines contributed two points.
The Huskies fell further behind Iowa by 32 points heading into the final period, 39-71.
4th Quarter
In the final period, the Hawkeyes coasted to a blowout victory and the only suspense left was if the Huskies would allow Iowa to score 100 points at Hec Ed.
Iowa’s offense slowed as they emptied their bench yet still managed to shoot 60% (3 for 5) overall (but 0% (0 for 1) from three-point range).
Meanwhile, the Huskies offense finally showed a pulse as they scored 22 points on 50% shooting from the field overall ( 8 for 16) and 50% (2 for 4) shooting from three-point range.
In the fourth period, Washington was led by Sellers with 13 points; Elle Ladine added seven points; and Teagan Brown added two points.
The Huskies lost by 24 points to the Hawkeyes, 61-85.
