On Friday afternoon, the Washington Huskies (6-1) defeated the Prairie View A&M Panthers (2-1), 65-50.
The Huskies continued their recent struggles offensively, as Washington shot 43.1% from the field overall (24 for 49); and only 26.3% from three-point range.
However, the Dawgs held the Panthers to a paltry 30.4% from the field overall and 20% from three-point range.
1st Quarter
In the first period, Washington was led by Sayvia Sellers and Dalayah Daniels with seven points each; Teagan Brown with three points; Shayla Gilmer recorded two points; and Tayra Eke added one point.
In the first quarter, the Huskies shot 50% overall (8 of 16) and 33.3% (2 for 6) from three-point range.
The Panthers struggled from the field, shooting 31.6% overall (6 for 19) and 50% (1 for 2) from three-point range.
The Huskies held a 7-point lead to end the first period, 20-13.
2nd Quarter
In the second period, Prairie View only shot 37.5% from the field overall; and 0% (0 for 2) from three-point range.
Yet the Panthers outscored the Huskies, 12-11, as the Huskies offense misfired with UW shooting 26.7% (4 for 15) shooting from the field overall; and 0% (0 for 5) from three-point range.
The Huskies were led by Hannah Stines with three points; Dalayah Daniels, Tayra Eke, Chloe Briggs. and Olivia Anderson added two points each.
3rd Quarter
In the third quarter, the tightly contested game continued as the Washington Huskies edged the Panthers in scoring, 18-17.
The Huskies only shot 46,2% (6 for 13) from the field overall and but made 50% (2 for 5) from three-point range.
Washington was led in scoring by Sayvia Sellers with six points; Elle Ladine with five points; Hannah Stines with three points; and Tayra Eke and Teagan Brown added two points each.
The Huskies held a 7-point lead heading into the final period, 49-42.
4th Quarter
In the final period, the Huskies pulled away from the Panthers for good with a 16-8 scoring advantage.
In the fourth period, Washington was led by Elle Ladine with seven points; Sayviah Sellers with three points; and Dalayah Daniels, Shayla Gilmer and Tayra Eke added two points each.

In 34 minutes of playing time, Sayvia Sellers led the Huskies with 16 points by shooting 33% from three-point range (1 for 3); and making 62.5 % of her shots overall (5 for 8).
Sayvia also recorded a team-leading 3 assists with three rebounds and one steal.
