Game Preview: UW WBB Hosts SEATTLE U @ 6PM at Hec Ed on Monday, November 4th

The Washington Huskies will open their 2024-25 regular season by hosting the Seattle University Redhawks — at Hec Ed on Monday, November 4th at 6:00 p.m. on the B1G TEN NETWORK.

Eight returning players from last season dominate the Huskies roster, including four starters — Dalayah Daniels, Elle Ladine, Hannah Stines, and Sayvia Sellers.

The Huskies added 2 transfers and one freshman to round out their lineup:

Devin Coppinger, a 5’10 freshman guard from Nooksack Valley HS in Washington;

Brenna McDonald, a 6’3″ forward transfer from Yale; as well as,

Tayra Eke, a 6’3″ forward transfer from Eastern Michigan from Madrid, Spain.

Seattle University Preview

The Seattle University roster is somewhat of a mystery due to nine new players on Seattle’s roster; and only two returning players.

Returning 5’6 senior guard Julianna Walker should be the Redhawks’ primary outside shooting threat — she shot 41.1% from three-point range last season

Expect Tamia Stricklin, a 6’0″ forward transfer from Fresno State, to be more of an inside offensive presence — she shot 42.7% from the field last season.

Taisiya Kozlova, a 6’1″ guard, transferred from Dayton after a stint at Maryland, but saw limited action at both stops

Sheridan Liggett, a 5’9″ redshirt sophomore guard, may be a catalyst on offense and defense for the Redhawks.

To secure the victory over Seattle, the UW Huskies will need to:

(1) Push tempo to score in transition and take advantage of their roster depth and guard heavy lineup;

(2) efficiently execute the Huskies offense by limiting turnovers to 10 or less.

(3) dominate the Redhawks with inside-the-paint scoring by the Huskies, with a target of 30 or more points-in-the-paint total (at least 10 of those points by Dalayah Daniels with strong contributions from both 6’3″ transfers, Eke and McDonald.).

A home victory over Seattle by the Washington Huskies may be expected but the Dawgs also should dominate with a victory of 10 or more points.

Huskies Win Probability: 90%
