On Friday night, after losing six straight games to PAC-12 opponents, the Washington Huskies (13-6 overall; 5-3 PAC) defeated the Oregon Ducks at home, 74-66
The Washington Huskies jumped out to an early lead behind the hot-shooting of Lauren Schwartz, but the contributions of a trio of freshmen i.e., Sayvia Sellers, Olivia Anderson and Ari Long, throughout the game were crucial to securing UW’s victory.
For the game, the Huskies were efficient from three-point range (36.8%); and efficient at the rim(60%) –i.e., within 4.5 feet.
Washington shot (48.7%) from two-point range, including 50% from mid-range.
Meanwhile, Washington’s defense limited Oregon shooters to 45.6% (26 for 57) shooting from the field; 47.9% shooting on two point attempts (23 for 48); and 33.3% (3 for 9)from three-point range.
However, Washington defenders allowed the Ducks’ offense more success in the lane as Oregon shot 51.3% overall in the paint(19 for 37).
Oregon did, howeveer, out-rebound the Huskies, 34 to 28.
Washington did commit less turnovers (11) than Oregon(18).
1st Quarter
In the first period, the Huskies were led by the hot hand of Lauren Schwartz, who scored 8 points on 75% (3 for 4) shooting overall; as well as 100% from three-point range (2 for 2).

Freshman Olivia Anderson came off the bench to spark the Huskies with four (4) points on 100% shooting (2 for 2) as well as, one rebound and one assist.
The Huskies only committed 2 turnovers in the first period, which kept the cold-shooting Huskies (29.4% shooting overall; and 28.6% from three-point range) within three points, 15-12.
2nd Quarter
In the second period, the Huskies elevated their game on offense and defense and outscored Oregon, 19-12.

The Dawgs shot 50% on two-point attempts and 60% on three-pointers.

In the second period, the Huskies showcased balanced scoring — led by Dalayah Daniels with six (6) points; Lauren Schwartz with five (5) points; Hannah Stines and Ari Long added three points each; and two points from Olivia Anderson.

UW went on a 12-4 scoring run to end the second quarter.
Ari Long’s buzzer-beating three-pointer gave the Huskies a 4-point lead over the Ducks, 31-27, heading into halftime.
3rd Quarter
In the third quarter, the Huskies took their foot off the gas after halftime and were outscored 21-17 as the Ducks got back in the game.
UW only shot 46.2% overall and 25.0% from three-point range.
At the end of the third period, Washington’s Jayda Noble scored on an assist from Sayvia Sellers to tie the game at 48-48, heading into the fourth quarter.
