The Washington Huskies pulled off an upset road victory over the #21-ranked Washington State Cougars, 60-55.
The Washington Huskies jumped out to an early lead to seize control over the Cougars, 10-2, in the first quarter, followed by an explosive 27-point second quarter by the Dawgs.
The Cougs rallied to staged a second half comeback that challenged the Huskies to dig deep to secure the victory, 60-55.
For the game, the Huskies shot 41.7% from two-point range, and shot 53.8 % (7 for 13) from three-point range. Washington shot 44.9% from the field overall.
Washington’s three-point defense stymied WSU’s shooters all game, as the Cougars offense came from inside the arc (20 for 42 for 47% shooting )– 36 of Washington State’s 42 total shot attempts came from areas inside (and around) the lane.
The Huskies edged the Cougars in total rebounds, 33-31.
But the Cougs scored more points-in-the-paint than the Huskies, 34-22 inside.
The turnover battle was mostly even with UW committing 14 turnovers; while WSU had13 turnovers for the game.
1st Quarter
Washington got out to a good start with tough defense and opportunistic scoring.

Dalayah Daniels led the Huskies with 5 points; Lauren Schwartz added 3 points and Stines added 2 points for the Dawgs.

The Huskies out-rebounded WSU, 14-8 in the period.
UW smacked the Cougs, and led 10-2 at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
The Huskies offense exploded in the second period, led by Schwartz (11 points); Hannah Stines (7 points); and Dalayah Daniels (6 points).

At halftime, the Dawgs held a 20-point lead over the Cougs, 37-17.
3rd Quarter
In the third quarter the Huskies offense stalled and WSU to begin to make up ground.
The Huskies shot 0% from three-point range (0 for2) and only made 27.3% of their two-point attempts (3 for 11) in the third quarter.
Only two Huskies players scored in the third period — Lauren Schwartz (5 points) and Hannah Stines (4 points).
The Huskies were outscored by Washington State18-9 in the third period.
Washington led 46-35 heading into the fourth quarter.
4th Quarter
In the final period, the Washington State Cougars continued their offensive surge, scoring 20 points; while the Washington Huskies battled to maintain their lead, scoring 14 points.
Hannah Stines had a team-leading 7 points in the final period; Chloe Briggs contributed 3 points and Lauren Schwartz and Sayvia Sellers added 2 points each.

Ultimately, the comeback attempt by the Cougs fell short as the Huskies secured the victory, 60-55.
UW Player of the Game: Hannah Stines
Lauren Schwartz had a huge night for the Huskies scoring a season-high 20 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 35 minutes
However, Hannah Stines led the Huskies to victory with a career-high 21 points with 9 rebounds in 38 minutes versus the Cougars — shooting 75% (3 for 4) from three-point range and 50% (5 for 10) on two-pointers.
Stines hit a clutch three-pointer in the fourth quarter with 2:13 left in the game to stop the Cougars momentum and extend the Huskies lead to an insurmountable 9 points.
