The Washington Huskies beat the Idaho State Bengals, 57-37, in the first game of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.
The Huskies started slow and then exploded in the second quarter to seize a 16-point lead at halftime, 30-14.
UW rode that lead through an uneven second half performance and ultimately coasted to victory.
For the game, the Huskies shot 50% from two-point range, but had a poor shooting night from three-point range, shooting 24% (7 for 29).
Washington only managed to out-rebound the Bengals by one board, 29-28.
However, steals and turnovers were the difference for the Huskies.
Washington had 14 steals for the game and forced 22 Idaho State turnovers.
The Dawgs only committed 12 turnovers for the game.
1st Quarter
The Huskies got off to a slow start, only outscoring the Bengals by four points in the first period, 10-6.
Washington only made two shots from the field in the first period (2-12), however, both were three-pointers.
The Dawgs leading scorers in the quarter were Elle Ladine and Lauren Schwartz with three points each.
2nd Quarter
The UW Huskies shook off their apparent jet lag and shot 53.8% from the field overall in the second period.
Lauren Schwartz scored 8 points and Elle Ladine scored 5 points to lead the Dawgs in the quarter.
The Dawgs outscored the Bengals 20-8 in the 2nd quarter and led 30-14 at halftime.
3rd Quarter
The Huskies were out-scored by the Bengals in the third period, 17-12.
Dalayah Daniels had a team-leading 7 points for the Huskies.
Washington led 42-31 heading into the fourth quarter.
4th Quarter
The Washington Huskies outscored Idaho State, 15-6, in the fourth quarter going on a run to secure the victory.
In the final period, Sayvia Sellers had a team-leading 6 points; she was followed by Ari Long with 4 points.
