On Friday night, the Washington Huskies (10-9 overall, 2-7 PAC) fought to stay close for three quarters, however, the #19-ranked Arizona Wildcats (16-4 overall, 6-3 PAC) surged in the fourth quarter to defeat UW, 61-54.
The low-scoring first quarter play by both teams was sloppy and ugly, featuring UW’s six turnovers and Arizona’s five turnovers — with zero points-off-turnovers by Washington and only four points-off-turnovers by Arizona.
At the end of the first period, Arizona led 11-9 over Washington.
Early in the second quarter, the Dawgs went on a 9-0 run to take a mid-quarter lead, 18-15, over the Wildcats.

Washington managed to keep their lead for the remainder of the low-scoring second period, and, at halftime, UW held a 23-19 lead over Arizona.

The first half featured poor shooting by Arizona, shooting 32% overall and 20% from three-point range(1 for 5); as well as, mediocre shooting by Washington –43% overall and 30% from three-point range.
The half also featured poor ball control as Washington had nine turnovers versus seven turnovers for Arizona
The third quarter began with an Arizona 5-0 run to seize the lead by one point, 24-23.
After a timeout by Huskies Head Coach Tina Langley, Washington responded by trading baskets (and the lead) with the Wildcats.

In the third period, the Wildcats outscored the Huskies, 16 to 13, but the Huskies held a one-point lead, 36-35, heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Arizona turn up the defensive pressure on the Huskies and Washington struggled to even get into its offense.
The Huskies turned the ball over five times in the final quarter.
UW shot 6 for 15 overall (40%) and 33% (1 for 3) from three-point range in the fourth.
For the game, the Washington Huskies shot 45.7% from the field overall and 33.3% from three-point range.

Haley Van Dyke was the Washington Huskies player with the most consistent play against the Arizona Wildcats.
Haley Van Dyke finished the game with a team-leading 16 points — on 50% shooting overall and 50% from the three-point line.
