On Friday, Washington began play at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic defeating the Fordham Rams 71-62.
Emma Grothaus (21 points, a season high); Hannah Stines (13 points); and Dalayah Daniels (12 points) led the Washington Huskies’ offensive charge.

Jayda Noble (three steals and one block) and Haley Van Dyke (three steals) led Washington’s defense.
In the first quarter, the contest was back-and-forth with three ties, until the Dawgs finished strong with a 10-4 run to lead, 20-14.
Just before halftime, the Dawgs scored twice with under 30 seconds to play to build an eight point lead, 36-28.
Fordham played the Huskies close the rest of the game mainly by shooting 40.7% from three-point range, as the Huskies struggled defending the three-point line.
However, the Huskies kept control of the game by remaining dominant on the boards — Washington out-rebounded the Rams 43-30 overall; as well as, UW had 15 offensive rebounds to only 9 by the Rams.
Also, Washington decimated Fordham’s inside defense by scoring 59% of UW’s points in the paint.
The Washington Huskies look for their six straight win to start the season at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 26th versus Santa Clara in the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.
