On November 28th, the Washington Huskies Women’s basketball team defeated the BYU Cougars, 77 – 48.
In their most impressive defensive performance this season, Huskies defenders held BYU to 27.3% shooting overall and 26.9% from three-point range.
Multiple Huskies held BYU offensive players scoreless: Jayda Noble (4 possessions defended); Khayla Rooks (4); Alexis Whitfield(3); and Quay Miller(1).*
Haley Van Dyke (12) and Tameiya Sadler (11) had the highest defensive possessions defended for the Huskies.
Sadler holding opposing players to 33% shooting from the field on 11 possessions is still particularly impressive.
Junior wing Haley Van Dyke had the highest field goal percentage against (50%), however, this may just be an indication of her high activity level on defense that allows her to challenge more shots than her less experienced (or less active) teammates.
* Callie Lind had zero individual possessions defended.
