Head Coach Jody Wynn tapped a former player when she needed a new assistant coach.
Tamara McDonald is a former Pepperdine University player who played under Derek and Jody Wynn when they were both Pepperdine assistants.
Per the UW Athletic Department, McDonald reenters the coaching world after a five year hiatus in the corporate world, serving as Chief of Administration for the California Labor Commissioner’s Office.
McDonald was previously the Head Coach at Citrus College (Ca.) and an assistant coach at Cal Poly Pomona both for five seasons, respectively.
McDonald fills the staff opening left by the recent resignation of Michelle Augustavo-Fisher for family reasons. In a statement, Head Coach Jody Wynn pointed out that Tamara McDonald is a “proven winner” having “led our Pepperdine teams to four post-season appearances, including 3 NCAA Tournament berths.”
Tamara McDonald looks like an excellent fit for the Huskies family, who’s immediate focus will most will likely be player development.
This means McDonald will be a an integral part of readying the Huskies for the 2020 – 2021 season, whenever it starts.
