The Washington Huskies (11-3, 1-2 Pac-12) suffered their second loss of the PAC-12 season at #8-ranked Stanford, 71-59.
The Huskies shot 40% from the field overall, but managed only 30% (6 for 20) from three-point range — which did not help offset their height disadvantage to the Cardinal.
Washington’s defense allowed Stanford to score 71 points (a new season-high eclipsing the. 70 points scored by Cal on Friday).
Meanwhile, Stanford shot a pedestrian 41% from the field overall, including (a very poor) 28% accuracy from three-point range and (very average) 50% from two-point range.
However, Stanford exploited the Washington defense inside with mutiple layups and shots in the lane area, scoring 28 total points-in-the-paint ( most coming in the first two quarters of the game).
Even with Stanford’s two top scorers missing significant time in the first half due to foul trouble, the shorter Huskies struggled with interior defense the entire game — mostly relying on guard Jayda Noble as the primary post defender.
For the game, Stanford had 18 offensive rebounds versus five total for the Huskies.
As a result, the Cardinal scored 14 points on second chance opportunities, while Washington only had four (4) second chance points.
Washington’s offense mostly struggled, despite a slight offensive surge in the fourth (40% shooting in the final period) to make Stanford work to secure their double digit victory.
Realistically, however, the outcome of the game was never in doubt past the first half.

1st Quarter
The Stanford Cardinal started the game up 6-0 before the Huskies responded with 8-0 scoring run for an 8-6 UW lead.
Washington was led by Dalayah Daniels and Elle Ladine in the first quarter with 4 points each.
2nd Quarter
Washington shot 50% (8 for 16) in the second quarter which matched Stanford’s 50% accuracy in the period.
Lauren Schwartz led the Huskies scoring in the second quarter with 6 points; followed by Daniels with 4 points.
