UW WBB Huskies Defeat Hawaii 58-41 @ Rainbow Wahine Showdown

The Washington Huskies allowed the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine to keep pace most of the game, until pulling away late in the third and fourth quarters to secure the victory, 58-41.

The Huskies shot 55.2% from two-point range, and shot 33.3 % (7 for 21) from three-point range. Washington shot 46% from the field overall.

Washington’s three-point defense was lacking as most of Hawaii’s offense came from beyond the arc (8 for 13)– 32 of Hawaii’s 47 total shot attempts came from three-point range.

UW out-rebounded Hawaii, 36-27.

Points-in-the-paint were a huge advantage for theHuskies, as they outscored Hawaii 28-8 inside.

UW committed 8 turnovers, while Hawaii committed 13 turnovers for the game.

1st Quarter

The teams mostly exchanged baskets in the first quarter.

Lauren Schwartz and Dalayah Daniels led the Huskies with 5 points each.

UW led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter.

2nd Quarter

Hannah Stines and Dalayah Daniels scored 3 points each to lead the Dawgs in the quarter.

Hawaii outscored the Huskies 11-10 in the 2nd quarter,

At halftime, the Dawgs only led Hawaii 25-23.

3rd Quarter

The Huskies allowed Hawaii to stay close, leading by only three points with three minutes left in the third period.

However, UW closed the quarter with a seven-point scoring run.

The Huskies shot 8-for-13 (61.5%) in the third quarter.

Jayda Noble had a team-leading 5 points for the Huskies.

Dalayah Daniels contributed 4 points in the quarter.

UW outscored Hawaii 18-10 in the third period.

Washington led 57-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

4th Quarter

In the final period, the Washington Huskies outscored Hawaii, 15-8, as the Huskies secured the victory, 58-41.

Sayvia Sellers had a team-leading 8 points; she was followed by Dalayah Daniels with 7 points in the fourth quarter.

UW Player of the Game: Dalayah Daniels

Dalayah Daniels led the Huskies to victory with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks — she was the most consistent Husky throughout the game.

Daniels shot 63.6% (7 for 11) from the field overall — all two-pointers.

Next Up vs Hawaii
The Washington Huskies host the San Francisco Dons at HecEd on Sunday, December 2nd at 1PM Pacific.
