The Washington Huskies (2-0) host the undefeated Pacific Tigers (2-0) on Wednesday, November 15th at 7PM Pacific.

The Huskies should dominate the game with their stellar three-point shooting — they are currently averaging 42.6% accuracy from three-point range (with 11.5 made three-pointers per game).

UW has nine players shooting over 37% from three-point range :

Chloe Briggs (60%);
Ari Long (50%);
Jayda Noble (50%);
Dalayah Daniels (50%);
Lauren Schwartz (42.9%);
Hannah Stines (42.9%);
Sayvia Sellers (42.9%);
Teagan Brown (40%); and
Elle Ladine (37.5%).

Washington’s offense is also very efficient from close range, averaging 57.8% on two-pointers.

Overall, 56% of the UW Huskies made shots are the result of their 21 assists per game.

Defensively, the Dawgs are holding opponents to only 21.2% shooting from three-point range.

The Pacific Tigers are only averaging 29.4% from three-point range — so they should struggle from deep against the Huskies defense.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Pacific Tigers merely average 70 points per game; while the Huskies average 94.5 points per game — a 24.5 point differential.

Three Tigers are averaging double figures in points.

Senior guard Liz Smith is the leading scorer for Pacific at 18.5 points per game; graduate student Cecilia Holmberg averages 13.0 points per game; and junior Elizabeth Elliottis tallying 11.0 points per game.

The 5’9″ Smith scores most of her points in the midrange, making 58.3% of her 2-pointers; conversely, she only makes 20% of her three-point shots.

A 6’2″ forward, Holmberg offers more balanced scoring — making 50% of her two-pointers and 33% of her three-point attempts.

Elliott, a 6’1″ forward, has scored exclusively inside-the-paint this season, making 10 of her 16 shots inside — with zero attempts from three-point range.

Clearly, it will be a key factor for the Huskies to dominate Pacific inside defensively and on the defensive boards.

Washington averages 36 defensive rebounds per game, which ranks in the Top 2% of Division One schools nationally.

The Huskies also average 6.5 blocks per game, which ranks in the Top 5% of Division One schools nationally.

If the Dawgs have even an average defensive effort by the Dawgs inside, it spells doom for the Pacific Tigers.

Prediction: Pacific is greatly overmatched offensively and defensively and should not be able to keep up with this season’s roster of running Dawgs.

Expect another 30-point (or more) blowout home victory for the Dawgs.

GO DAWGS!
