The Washington Huskies opened their B1G 10 conference regular season slate with a statement, delivering a blistering offensive performance in a 94–73 win over the Northwestern Wildcats.
The Huskies trounced the Wildcats boosted by a relentless barrage of 16 Huskies three-pointers — the Dawgs shot 44.4% from three-point range (16 for 36) — a decisive showcase of perimeter firepower.

Meanwhile, the Huskies paired that perimeter punch with ball pressure that forced 16 Northwestern turnovers and converted them into 20 critical points — while Washington only committed nine turnovers.
Northwestern attempted an inside scoring duel between the teams — scoring 36 points-in-the-paint versus 34 by the Huskies — that was inconsequential to the Huskies’ three-point barrage.

UW Players of the Game: Avery Howell and Elle Ladine
The dual brilliance of guards Avery Howell and Elle Ladine headlined the Huskies’ offensive efforts.
Avery Howell’s early offense sparked the Huskies efforts by scoring 15 points in the 1st half.
For the game, Avery Howell shot a blistering 66.6% (8 of 12) from the field overall; including, 66.6% from three-point range (6 for 9).

Howell scored 23 points in 32 minutes; and added five rebounds and three steals.
Senior guard Elle Ladine had a breakout performance that announced her return from injury may be complete with 23 points in 22 minutes on 58% shooting (7 for 12) from the field overall; and 42.8 % shooting from three-point range (3 for 7).

STARTING FIVE
1st Quarter
Washington wasted no time establishing its offensive identity.
Behind a high-efficiency uptime offense, the Huskies raced to 24 first‑quarter points — shooting 50% from the field (9-for-18) and a red hot 41.7% from three (5-for-12).
Meanwhile, Northwestern managed to stay within striking distance with 18 points in the first period on 50% (7 for 14) shooting from the field overall; and 66.7% from three-point range (2 for 3).
The Huskies were led by Avery Howell and Sayvia Sellers with 6 points each; Elle Ladine added 5 points; Hannah Stines contributed 3 points; and Brynn McGaughy and Teagan Brown added 2 points each.
The Dawgs held a 6-point lead to end the first period, 24-18.

2nd Quarter – Howell Ignites, Huskies Pull Away
In the second period, Washington’s shooting efficiency from three-point range spiked even higher to 54.5% (6 for 11), while shooting 47% from the field overall (8 for 17).
The Huskies offense stayed in high gear as they outscored the Wildcats, 22-15 in the first period.
The Northwestern Wildcats committed six turnovers in the period limiting their offensive possessions as they struggled to keep up — shooting 60% (6 for 10) from the field overall; and 0% (0 for 2) from three-point range.
Avery Howell ignited with 9 points to lead the Huskies; Sayvia Sellers added 6 points; Elle Ladine contributed 5 points; and Devon Coppinger added 2 points.
At the half, the Huskies had built a 13-point halftime lead, 46-33, over Northwestern.

3rd Quarter – Ladine’s Burst Answers Northwestern’s Rall
In the third quarter, the Huskies offense continued its high efficiency to score 25 points by shooting 53.8% overall (7 for 13); and 40% from three-point range (2 for 5).
However, the Wildcats rallied offensively scoring 24 points on 53.8% from the field overall (7 for 13); including, 40% (2 for 5) from three-point range.
But Elle Ladine’s scoring burst of 13 points kept the Huskies in control; Sayvia Sellers also contributed 5 points; Hannah Stines scored 4 points; and Avery Howell added 3 points.
The Huskies maintained a 14-point, 71-57, heading into the final period.

4th Quarter
In the final period, Washington showed no interest in merely coasting to the finish.
The Huskies again dictated the tempo, outscoring Northwestern 23–16 and maintaining their three‑point threat with 37.5% shooting (3 for 8) from beyond the arc.
Northwestern shot a respectable 46.2% in the quarter but went 0-for-1 from deep, unable to match Washington’s perimeter volume.
The Huskies were led by Devon Coppinger with 7 points; Avery Howell scored 5 points; Hannah Stines and Brynn McGaughy added 3 points each; Sienna Harvey and Sayvia Sellers scored 2 points each; and Olivia Anderson punctuated the win with one point.
The Dawgs closed out their first B1G conference win of the season emphatically, 94-73, over the Northwestern Wildcats.
