The Washington Huskies (19-12, 9-9 B1G) beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers (20 -11, 8-10 B1G), 79-65, to advance to the second round of the B1G 10 Tournament in Indianapolis.
The Huskies were led by Elle Ladine’s 15 points in the first half; Dalayah Daniels and Sayvia Sellers with 13 points each in the second half.
For the game, the Dawgs shot 54.5% overall (30 for 55); and 41.7% from three-point range (10 for 24).
Washington’s defense held the Minnesota offense to 39.4% from the field overall; and only 26.3% from three-point range.
The Dawgs scored 30 points-in-the-paint versus 36 by the Gophers.
Washington committed 13 turnovers versus 8 turnovers by Minnesota.
UW WBB Player of the Game: Elle Ladine
In 38 minutes of playing time, Elle Ladine led the Huskies with 21 points by shooting 52.9% from the field overall (9-17); and 37.5% from three-point range (3 for 8).
Ladine also recorded eight rebounds, five assists, and one block.
1st Quarter
The Huskies outscored the Gophers, 16 to 12, in the first period.
The Huskies offense shot 43.8% overall (7 of 16) and 28.6% (2 for 7) from three-point range.
Meanwhile, Minnesota shot 29.4% (5 for 17) shooting overall and 33% (2 for 6) from three-point range.
The Huskies were led by Elle Ladine with 12 points; Chloe Briggs and Hannah Stines added two points each.
The Huskies led the Gophers, 16-12, to end the first period.
2nd Quarter
In the second period, the Gophers outcored the Huskies, 18 to 16.
Washington shot a scorching 50% (6-12) from the field overall; and 42.9% (3 for 7) from three-point range.
Meanwhile, Minnesota’s offense shot 44.4% (8 for 18) from the field overall; along with 40% (2 for 5) shooting from three-point range.
The Huskies were led by Teagan Brown with six points; Elle Ladine with three (3) points; Dalayah Daniels, Sayvia Sellers and Hannah Stines added two points each; and Tayra Eke added one point.
Heading into halftime, the Huskies led the Gophers, 32-30.
3rd Quarter
In the third period, the Huskies offense surged to score 22 versus 18 points by the Gophers.
The Dawgs shot 60% (9 for 15) shooting overall; and 57.1% from three-point range (4 for 7).
Minnesota shot 42.9 % overall (6 for 14) and 33% from three-point range (1 for 3).
Washington was led in scoring by Sayvia Sellers with nine (9) points; Elle Ladine with four points; and Chloe Briggs with three points; and Hannah Stines, Dalayah Daniels and Tayra Eke added two points each.
The Huskies built a 6-point lead heading into the final period, 54-48.
4th Quarter
In the final period, the Huskies offense exploded for 25 points (and the Gophers could not keep up, despite scoring 17 points); and ultimately Washington secured a comfortable victory.
The Huskies shot 66.7% (8 for 12) shooting overall; and 33% shooting from three-point range (1 for 3).
In the fourth period, Washington was led by Dalayah Daniels with 11 points; Hannah Stines with eight points; Sayvia Sellers added four points; and Elle Ladine added two points.
The Dawgs posted a 79-65 victory over Minnesota.
